Markos Apostolakis, BSc, MSc, Ph.D. – Board Member

Dr. Markos Apostolakis brings a unique multidisciplinary perspective to the Cyprus Neuroscience Society’s board with his diverse academic background spanning philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science. As a Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in emotion processing and self-regulation mechanisms, his research aligns perfectly with C.N.S.’s mission to advance neuroscience across various domains. Dr. Apostolakis’s work employing cutting-edge multimodal assessment techniques—including EEG, psychophysiology, and fNIRS—to investigate biomarkers and behavioral correlates exemplifies the innovative research approaches that C.N.S. aims to promote. His current investigations into objective markers of emotion regulation in children and brain responses to distress in addiction contribute valuable insights to the neuropsychiatric field, supporting the Society’s goal of fostering collaboration between neuroscientists, clinicians, and researchers. His expanding research into addictions and cognitive-emotional function during withdrawal demonstrates the type of cross-disciplinary work that positions Cyprus as an emerging hub for neuroscience research in the region.
