Upcoming Lecture: The Role of Sex and Gender in Neuropsychopharmacology

The Cyprus Neuroscience Society, in collaboration with the Cyprus Biological Society (organizer), is delighted to invite you to a scientific lecture. The distinguished speaker, Dr. Christina Dalla, Professor of Pharmacology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, will present on:

“The Role of Sex and Gender in Neuropsychopharmacology”

This talk will explore the significance of sex and gender in pharmacological responses and their impact on personalized medicine. Understanding sex and gender differences in neuropsychopharmacology is crucial for developing targeted treatments, as these factors influence drug efficacy, side effects, and therapeutic outcomes in neurological and psychiatric disorders. This research paves the way for more equitable and effective healthcare solutions. Dr. Dalla, a renowned expert in pharmacology, has made significant contributions to the field through her work on sex differences in brain function and behavior.

First Electoral General Assembly of the Cyprus Neuroscience Society

Event Summary

The Cyprus Neuroscience Society (CNS) held its inaugural Electoral General Assembly, marking a significant milestone in the establishment of the first dedicated neuroscience community in Cyprus. The assembly began with member registration and verification of quorum in accordance with the society’s statutes.

Election Results

Following a democratic voting process, the society elected its first Executive Committee and Audit Committee:

Executive Committee:

  • President: Dr. Panos Zanos
  • Vice President: Dr. Andrea Georgiou
  • Secretary: Dr. Andria Michail
  • Assistant Secretary: Mr. Morfeas Koumas
  • Treasurer: Mr. Stylianos Valiantis
  • Council Members: Dr. Vasileios Kafetzopolous and Mr. Markos Apostolakis

Additional Proceedings

The assembly also addressed key operational matters, including the establishment of bank accounts and authorized signatories. The newly elected leadership emphasized the importance of active member participation in society activities and announced that the first Executive Committee meeting would be scheduled soon to plan next steps and implementation timelines.
